The Top 10 Board Games

Are you looking to spice up your next game night or getting a bit bored of the games you have while in quarantine? Well, you're in luck! I've compiled a list of my favourite board or card-based games for you to play!

*Disclaimer: I may collect a small share of sales from the links on this page. This doesn't change the price for you but helps keep this site running! I recommend and have tried every game on this list.

1. Settlers of Catan

Catan is my all-time favourite game. It's a strange combination of Risk, Monopoly, and Go Fish where you earn points by building settlements. Catan is great because you can buy expansions to play with more players!

Players: 3-4 players (more with an expansion)

Difficulty: Medium - easy to learn but difficult to master

2. Bananagrams

Bananagrams is a fast-paced Scrabble that's more compact! Each player works independently to make words and finish their tiles before their opponents. The nerd in me loves this game.

Players: 2-4

Difficulty: Easy - It's a great game for any age.

3. Blokus

Blokus is a great way to team up against someone and see them struggle in frustration to finish all their pieces. It's a bit like Tetris... but on a game board and with other players trying to screw it up for you.

Players: 2-4

Difficulty: Easy

4. Monopoly

What better way to start a family fight? Monopoly is a classic and I still love it to this day. It's a great way to spend a rainy day or have fun with friends during game night!

Players: 2-8

Difficulty: Easy but beware of the friendship destruction

5. Wizard

Wizard is similar to any trick-taking card game but requires a special deck with wizards and jesters. It's super fun!

Players: 3-6

Difficulty: Medium - a good understanding of trump cards will make this game much easier

6. Uno Flip

Uno Flip is so much better than regular Uno! The rules are the exact same but Uno Flip contains a "light" side and a "dark" side of the cards with different actions.

Players: 2-10

Difficulty: Easy - if you can play Uno then you can play Uno Flip

7. Sequence

Sequence is a fun family game that can be played with up to 12 players! The aim of the game is to be the first player (or team) to make a sequence by placing chips on the board. Watch out for the jacks though!

Players: 2-12 (on teams)

Difficulty: Medium

8. Skip-bo

Skip-bo is a card game that requires a special deck. It's easy to learn and fun to play. The best part is that you only need 2 people to play!

Players: 2-6

Difficulty: Easy

9. Dobble/Spot it!

I just learned this game in March and it's awesome. It's fast-paced, intense, and frustrating but so much fun. You lay down cards by finding the one matching symbol between two cards. Sounds easy, right? Finding the symbol is harder than you think!

Players: 2-8

Difficulty: Easy to learn but surprisingly hard to find the matching symbol!

10. Trouble

Trouble is a classic game that we all grew up playing. I still love playing this game when hanging out with my brother and our friends.

Players: 2-4

Difficulty: Easy

And there you have it - the 10 best board games!
