How to Play Golf

Golf is a game that my mom, brother, and I used to play at our cottage., We've since sold our cottage so this game is something I'll cherish from our time up there. Golf is very similar to Cambio and just as great! Check out the rules of Golf here:

Number of Players:

2 or more

Materials:

-one deck of regular playing cards, with Jokers

Objective of the Game:

Just like the sport, the aim of Golf is to finish the game with lowest possible score.

Set-up:

Deal 4 cards to each player, one at a time, face down in a square. The remaining cards are placed in a draw pile in the middle of the table, with the top card flipped up. This is the discard pile.

Each player peeks at any two of their cards. Remember them, but don't show any other players! Return the cards to their original position.

Play:

The player to the left of the dealer goes first. They can choose from the draw pile or the top card of the discard pile.

If they choose from the discard pile, they must exchange the card with one of their own without looking at it first. The new card stays face down and the old cards gets placed on the discard pile.

If they choose from the draw pile, they can decide if they want to keep the card or not. If they keep it, then it's the same rules as above. If they don't keep it, it gets placed on the discard pile.

Play continues clockwise with each player drawing a new card on their turn, from either the draw or discard pile. Your cards remain hidden the entire game and you cannot peek at them throughout the game! Continue exahinging cards in your square each turn, trying to improve your score each time.

Once a player thinks they have the lowest score, they can 'knock' in place of their turn. Each player has one more round to try and beat them.

Scoring:

Each card is worth it's face value, except:

Aces are 1

Kings are 0

Jokers are -2

If two cards of the same value line up vertically then they cancel each other out and the score for that column is 0.

For example, the total in the picture above would be 1 point, because the 2s cancel out and the King is worth 0 points.

Winning:

The player with the lowest score is the winner!

Tips:

-The best tip I have is to remember your cards!
